RJEC Activities

· RJEC meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6pm - Locations will vary from month to month so watch for emails. Meetings are open to all society delegates and interested visitors.

· Scholarships - RJEC sponsors engineering scholarships at VCU and VA State University. The 2010 winner at VCU is Mr Dillard Patton, a Senior in Mechanical Engineering and Physics (dual major). Past VCU scholarship winners have included Ms Shannon Parker (BS BioMed 09) Mr Philip Harpring (BSME 08) and Mr Forrest Rittman (BS BioMed Engr 08). The Scholarship has not yet been awarded at VSU.

· RJEC provides speakers to Central Virginia schools and educational associations for in-class discussions on what Engineers do, to assist with special classroom activities related to Engineering, and for any special event where an Engineer speaker is wanted.

· Workshops for Middle School Students - “A Tower to the Sky” - Mike Howell lead a group of middle school students in 2008 through the steps needed to construct a skyscraper at the Math Innovation Center at the University of Richmond.
